What is peer pressure?

What is peer pressure?

Peers are people who share things in common with you. They may be in your age group or have similar experiences or interests. Peer pressure occurs when your peers pressure you to do something you are not comfortable doing.

Why is it so difficult to stand up to peer pressure?

Peer pressure can be difficult to resist. This is especially true with young people. This is because you want to be accepted by your peers and have their approval. Believe that you have a choice. You can do and live without unhelpful friends no matter how much you believe you like them and enjoy their company.

What can I do to stand up to peer pressure?

You need to do what is right for you. After all, you are the one that will have to live with the consequences.

  1. Be honest with yourself.

  2. Be assertive

  3. Practice saying “no.”

Practice responses that you could give when faced with difficult situations. This will prepare you for when a situation arises.
